Key Skills You'll Develop
Urban Planners develop strategies for the growth and development of cities and communities, balancing land use, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and public needs to create livable and resilient urban environments.
Mapúa welcomes both transferees and those seeking a second degree. Transferees must have a weighted average of at least 2.00, no failing grades, and must complete at least 60% of their architecture courses at Mapúa. Second-degree applicants are eligible if they already hold a bachelor’s degree in a different field. Both groups must undergo evaluation, which includes submitting a letter of intent and previous scholastic records. Approval is subject to slot availability and meeting specific academic criteria.
Yes, the admission process for Architecture includes program-specific requirements beyond the standard assessment, which is the Skills Test. This allows the university to assess the applicant’s creative potential and technical aptitude, ensuring they meet the university’s standards. Applicants must submit a maximum of three sketches or drawings via email for evaluation.
Incoming freshmen must first complete the online application form to receive login credentials for the MPASS Applicant Portal. The next step is paying the MPASS fee and scheduling the assessment.
After completing the MPASS, students immediately receive their results and can pay a non-refundable reservation fee to secure a slot in the architecture program. Finally, applicants must submit all enrollment requirements and attend their scheduled enrollment date to officially join the university.
The Mapúa Program Placement Assessment (MPASS) is a standardized tool that measures an applicant’s cognitive and academic development. It is designed to identify an applicant’s suitable program opportunities based on the results.
Applicants can take the assessment online via Cardinal Edge or on-site at the Intramuros or Makati campuses. While applicants cannot “fail” the MPASS, if the results do not initially show the Architecture program, they may email the Admissions Office to discuss potential reconsideration options.
Incoming BS Architecture freshmen can apply for various scholarships and financial assistance programs. High-achieving applicants scoring 80% or higher on the MPASS may qualify for the E.T. Yuchengco Scholarship, which covers full matriculation and provides stipends.
Freshmen graduating “with highest honors” are eligible for the Don Tomas Mapúa Scholarship, offering a 100% tuition discount for two terms. Additionally, the Alfonso T. Yuchengco Scholarship provides a 40% tuition discount for Public Science High School graduates. Other opportunities include Athletic scholarships and discounts for members of the Mapúa Cardinal Singers or The New Builder (Official Student Publication).
